How to use cinnamon for weight loss

Ceylon cinnamon is a spice made from the ground inner bark of a tree native to Sri Lanka, which once was known as Ceylon. It has been used in traditional medicine for centuries, and modern research confirms its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. The spice has also gained a reputation as a weight loss aide, although more evidence is needed to confirm this claim. Consult your health-care practitioner before using Ceylon cinnamon therapeutically because of potential side effects and drug interactions.

Cinnamon is a spice that can be a powerful antioxidant while providing such things as calcium, iron, fiber, and other healthful nutrients and minerals. In fact, cinnamon has been used over the years as a treatment for such ailments as:

  • Arthritis
  • High cholesterol
  • High levels of blood sugar
  • Migrain headaches
  • Digestive issues

As an antioxidant, cinnamon does help to fight inflammation and stress from oxidation. This is beneficial to weight loss because stress increases Cortisol, which in turn affects blood sugar levels, energy levels, inflammation and immune system functioning.  Too much Cortisol is reflected in weight gain, particularly around the belly area.  If cinnamon reduces stress, less Cortisol would be produced, and using a cinnamon diet to lose weight could be effective.
Be careful to buy only cinnamon, and not cinnamon mixed with sugar or something like that. Try to buy natural cinnamon instead of those powders people sell. You can even try tea with cinnamon in it: it has a good taste and combines the effect of tea and this spice. The important thing here is for you not to take any other bad substance like sugar. Then, what you are doing will lose all of its importance.
